Eclipse, Music & Sky in Lauris sur Durance, Provence, France

When music accompanies an extraordinary celestial phenomenon

On August 12, 2026, Les Terrasses Musicales du Luberon took on a very special dimension in Lauris-sur-Durance. In the remarkable setting of the Château Gardens, overlooking the Luberon and the Durance Valley, electronic music and astronomy came together for one unforgettable evening.

On the Terrasse des Arcades, Riko Mixco performed a two-hour DJ set specially designed to accompany the progression of the solar eclipse.

A musical journey following the eclipse

From 7:20 PM, the first sounds of Deep House, Progressive House and electronic lounge music created a relaxed and contemplative atmosphere.

The idea was not simply to provide a soundtrack for the event, but to let the music evolve with the changing light and atmosphere of the surroundings: music that was present without ever becoming intrusive, leaving plenty of room for the landscape and the extraordinary spectacle unfolding in the sky.

Minute by minute, the light gradually changed until the most spectacular moment of the evening, at 8:24 PM.

At that precise moment, the Moon covered 95.8% of the Sun.

The music then faded away for a few moments of silence, allowing the audience to fully experience the maximum phase of the eclipse.

Special eclipse-viewing glasses were provided free of charge, allowing everyone to safely enjoy this exceptional phenomenon.

From the eclipse to the shooting stars

After the maximum phase of the eclipse, the music gradually returned as the Sun disappeared below the horizon.

The DJ set continued until 9:20 PM, accompanying the transition from twilight into night.

But the spectacle was not over.

The evening continued beneath the Lauris night sky with the observation of shooting stars, offering one final opportunity to look up and simply enjoy the setting, the summer night and the stars above.

Another way to experience music

This evening perfectly illustrates the spirit of Les Terrasses Musicales du Luberon: creating intimate, human-scale musical experiences that become part of the places in which they are held, while showcasing the landscapes, heritage and art of living of the region.

No huge stage. No excessive technical production.

Just a terrace, a garden, a DJ, a sound system carefully adapted to the setting… and, on this particular evening, an extraordinary natural spectacle.

Music was not simply part of the evening’s programme: it became part of the experience itself.
